Thoughts Post-LA Screenings - Content Still Rules!

A stimulating couple days at LA Screenings Independents! Can't be stated enough how important it is to MEET face-to-face with producers, buyers, agents and financers from around the world! 

Part of our mission at FlowFeel Arts is to connect our alumni and colleagues with the biggest and most beneficial opportunities in the industry and we'll continue to do just that.  

What we took away from a couple stimulating days at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt:

  • As already stated, in-person meetings are still very necessary even in today's hybrid world. It's evident that many people feel the same. While deals can get done from anywhere, in-person at the big events, still holds up strongly!

  • In terms of what is selling- short-form dramas, reality TV, creator-focused content are at the top. But anything can sell in today's hyper-fragmented marketplace. New creators don't need to chase trends, just go with what your passionate about.

  • Combine LA Screenings outcomes, with what we can takeaway from Cannes and post-New Fronts, the overall content market is still thriving despite the woes of the overall economy and lingering industry issues. Most are championing these opportunities for innovation and growth. There's slightly less focus on flash and flare and more focus on substance and quality, which is a STRONG sign for emerging talent! Viewer-first Content is needed year-round, and platforms need to be quick to adapt, Creators are more important to brands than ever - all GREAT news for creators!

  • Hollywood Roosevelt in a great place for an event like this. While the hustle-bustle of Hollywood Blvd. can be distracting, the venue itself was perfect for meetings, networking, workspace and screenings. The hotel has beautiful spaces, multi-use functions and pretty much everything on-site.
